Duties

Help
  • Provides technical and administrative supervision to subordinate supervisors and staff, including evaluating performance, assigning work, identifying training needs, and improving quality and efficiency of investigative operations.
  • Oversees investigations of employment discrimination complaints, ensuring legal sufficiency, proper application of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, investigative accuracy, and compliance with established policy and precedent.
  • Ensures appropriate negotiation and review of settlements and conciliation agreements, oversees compliance activities, and coordinates referrals to the legal division for noncompliance proceedings.
  • Participates on the District Office Management Review Team, developing investigative strategies for complex, sensitive, or systemic investigations, including Commissioners' Charges.
  • Represents the district externally when engaging with the public, employers, advocacy groups, and government agencies to communicate EEOC policies, programs, and enforcement activities.
  • Collaborates with the district director to develop procedures, improve operational effectiveness, support agency goals, and may serve as acting deputy district director as assigned.

Qualifications

For the GS-14: You must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Such experience consists of planning, providing leadership, and direction in conducting investigations of employment discrimination and experience analyzing, researching, and evaluating employment discrimination laws, regulations, and policies with multi-dimensional issues and presenting the results orally and/or in writing.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 14 level.

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement.
