Help

Duties for the Audit & IT Officer, GS-15 include but not limited to:

  • Assists the AIG in providing oversight and strategic direction to the Office of Audit Services (OAS) Cybersecurity and Information Technology Audit Division (CITAD).
  • Provides guidance and assistance for developing and implementing information technology audit testing strategies.
  • Plans, directs, and performs audits of information technology-based programs, activities, and operations.
  • Determines major IT audit activities.
  • Reviews computer system and data communications operating controls and assesses their implementation and security.
  • Provides technical assistance to OIG personnel in HQ and throughout the regions for audits of highly complex computer systems which include a wide variety of computer-based management control systems of OPDIVs, grantees, and contractors.
  • Reviews draft and final audit reports prepared by regional and divisional IT audit staff to ensure adequacy of coverage, adherence to GAGAS and established OAS reporting policies and procedures, and the application of the IT audit frameworks.
  • Reviews audit reports addressing IT or other technically complex issues.
  • Serves as representative of the OAS at meetings and conferences with Department officials, other Federal agencies, and professional organizations with respect to matters in assigned area of responsibility.

  • This is a Testing Designated Position. Incumbent must pass drug screening prior to appointment. The Incumbent will also be subject to unannounced random drug testing for the duration of their time in this position.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

For the GS-14 grade level applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Directs cyber security and IT audits conducted of agencies nationwide; and
  2. Reviews cybersecurity and IT controls related to information technology systems; and
  3. Communicates audit findings to internal and external stakeholders; and
  4. Plans work to be accomplished, makes overall work assignments, and reviews audit products.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week. Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.
