About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin.
Serves as the Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Management Branch within the Environmental Division.
Supervises program implementation designed to achieve, maintain, or exceed compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations and a variety of environmental programs.
Oversees implementation of Team responsibilities of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Provides technical guidance on all assigned environmental matters to sub installations.
Supervises and provides technical oversight for professional and technical personnel engaged in the accomplishment of assigned programs.
Coordinates and supervises highly technical and politically complex environmental program areas.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising on environmental compliance issues; and preparing environmental plans or reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
