Duties

Help

  • Maintains DAFFH facilities in an orderly and clean manner.
  • Cleans public restrooms, guest rooms and guest bathrooms on a daily basis to include sanitizing plastic mattress pad covers, changing bed linens, vacuums, dusts, and sanitizes/cleaning bathrooms thoroughly. Vacuum rugs, and draperies and mini blinds in guest rooms.
  • Cleans floors, walls and furniture in common areas daily.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchens on a daily basis to include counters, cabinet fronts, inside of guest food cabinets, sinks and floors.
  • Loads, unloads and runs dishwasher on a daily basis.
  • Restocks kitchen supplies used by house guest as needed.
  • Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial type power equipment. Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture.
  • Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture.
  • Empties all trash cans and waste baskets daily. Polishes doorknobs and other metal fixtures.
  • Cleans glass partitions, inside and outside windows, using stepladders and extension ladders.
  • Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
  • Reports water leaks, clogged drains and other conditions requiring maintenance to supervisor Maintains supply of cleaning materials and advises supervisor when more supplies are needed or when equipment needs repair or replacement.
  • Sorts dirty lines for laundry pick-up, receives clean linen and stores appropriately by distributing all lines and towels to guest rooms and/or linen room. Assist guest with special requests, delivers guest requested items (e.g., iron, additional towels, amenity products).
  • Cleans refrigerator/freezer units, ovens and cook tops as needed.
  • Rotates bed mattresses on a 6-month basis.
  • Performs seasonal tasks as required, such as, applying ice control material to entrances of buildings, shoveling snow, picking up litter around buildings, and watering lawns around buildings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

Experience in the proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Knowledge to perform the full range of cleaning duties. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Able to operate, move and control, and clean powered cleaning equipment. Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for long periods of time.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
