Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift Certification.
A Hazardous Waste Certificate is to be acquired within one year of employment.
A Department of Transportation Certification is to be acquired within one year of employment.
A pre-employment physical is required.
The incumbent must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds when necessary.
This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing inspections to ensure the proper management and disposal of regulated wastes; 2) Assisting in the transport, disposal, collection, and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous regulated wastes; 3) Providing technical guidance for recovery and cleanup operations during spills or release; AND 4) Applying environmental compliance law i.e. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Act, and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Environmental Studies, Environmental Protection and Safety Management, or Environmental Science. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
