Duties

Help
  • Independently perform a variety routine to complex diagnostic radiographic procedures.
  • Receive patients, explains method of procedure, positions patients, selects and sets technical factors, sets up and adjust accessory equipment required, and makes exposures necessary for the requested procedures.
  • Instruct students participating in the radiologic technologist program.
  • Performs procedures such as Upper and Lower GI studies, Intravenous Pyelograms, Cystography, Hystereosalpingography, Arthrography, Cholangiograms, Sinograms, Fistulagrams.
  • Perform duties as a Quality Control Technologist, responsible for reviewing all radiographs performed by them or in the department for diagnostic quality prior to interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Schedules patients for radiology appointments using computerized system.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • Required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement. A candidate tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification. Do you have an ARRT certification?

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing radiographic examinations/procedures and setting up the x-ray room or preparing or administering contrast material.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).


OR

Education : One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Diagnostic Radiology/Radiography.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
