Duties

Help
  • You will provide technical oversight to military and civilian personnel on microcomputer operations, software applications and automated system security.
  • You will analyze, evaluate and monitor current microcomputer configuration to determine enhancements, upgrades and modifications needed to improve performance and production and reduce costs.
  • You will prepare all required documentation for assigned area.
  • You will provide customer assistance and/or training for assigned systems.
  • You will be responsible for making sure connectivity to the Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI) exists for all personnel.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 411 and 441, proficiency level BASIC the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying information technology principles and practices to provide technical support to personnel; 2) Troubleshooting information technology problems and managing networks and computer systems; 3) Performing preventive maintenance of hardware to include installing and replacing hardware; and 4) Maintaining a current inventory database to include hardware and software systems.

Your experience must reflect skill in the following four competency areas:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Reviewing data from multiple sources to determine relevant information for a given situation. Drafting, editing, and disseminating written reports and status updates that are factual, timely, and relatively error free.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Developing and maintaining relationships with customers with diverse needs. Providing technical information about products and services. Assessing the needs of customers to identify or tailor products and/or services to meet their needs. Resolving non-routine problems, questions, or complaints and directing the most complex problems, questions, or complaints to the appropriate person.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Communicating ideas or information clearly and respectfully. Listening to others and recognizing potential miscommunications.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Using logic to identify alternatives for solving problems Gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternative solutions to issues or problems.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, the following education may be substituted:

A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.

The degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management;
OR
A degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
