Duties

Help

Duties are but not limited to:

A. The duties of this position are in the Linen Distribution Unit of the Laundry Section and involves the receipt, storage, collection and distribution of all linen items in use at this Medical Center.
B. Linen quota for using units, including clinics are logged and filled accordingly and delivered as scheduled. The exchange cart system applies to all wards. Empty carts are returned to the Linen Distribution Room cleaned and restocked for the next scheduled delivery. A daily record will be maintained on all linen distribution made.
C. Duties are performed on a rotational basis, which includes weekday, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Rotation to laundry distribution location, clothing/linen room, distribution routes and laundry truck may be performed as necessary during emergency situations; i.e., shortage of employees due to sick leave or emergency situations annual leave, etc.
D. The "service call" recorder located at the unit is monitored and requested linen delivered within reasonable time frame, normally not to exceed 30 minutes. When linen is unavailable, the requested unit will be contacted and informed. A daily record will be maintained of all service calls and deliveries made.
E. All surgical packs (OR and GU) received from the Laundry Plant will be delivered promptly to the Processing and Distribution Section (SPD) for autoclaving and subsequent delivery to the units.
F. On weekends, holidays and after normal duty hours, incumbent will monitor all chute rooms and load soiled linen in carts and place on the Laundry truck to prevent chute blockage and expedite delivery to the Linen Distribution Unit.
G. Incumbent will assist in loading and unloading clean and soiled linen when delivery and pick-up is being made. Inspects textile and linen received for quality assurance before storage and delivery.
H. On weekends and holidays incumbent will perform duties in the Patient Clothing Room at the designated time, 30 minutes in the morning and in the afternoon, to release the personal effects of patients being discharged, transferred or other disposition. Release of effects will be sustained by Clearance Sheet or coordinated with Head/Charge Nurse or the Ward.
I. Incumbent will maintain the Linen Room in a high state of cleanliness at all times. The unit will be cleaned and sanitized as necessary, not less than once each tour of duty, normally at the end of the tour of duty and reports all safety issues or concerns to leaders or upper management.
J. Incumbent will distribute and receive uniforms, lab coats, textile and linen to all hospital staff as needed. Incumbent will log all transactions and provide receipts upon request for tracking purposes.
K. Incumbent participates in Laundry Annual Inventories and perform additional duties as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday -Sunday, 7am- 3:30pm Weekends & Rotating Holidays

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be physically able to stand and walk during entire shift and must be able to stoop, bend, lift, push and pull heavy linen loads weighing more than 50 pounds.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
