Duties

Help

The successful candidate will perform the full range of Senior Reactor Technology Instructor GG-14 duties.

Such duties include but are not limited to:


1. Designs, develops, implements, and maintains training modules and associated materials within designated reactor vendor design(s), regulatory programs, and associated technical areas to initially provide and continually maintain regional and program office inspection and staff personnel with the level of technical and regulatory knowledge necessary to perform their assigned job functions


2. Acts as task leader for development of new courses and curriculum areas and major modifications to assigned reactor technology area. Provides instruction in classroom, workshop, and simulator environments.


3.Provides instruction in classroom, workshop, and simulator environments. Develops, conducts technical reviews, and administers examinations to evaluate the level of understanding of attendees upon completion of specified phases of the training programs.

4.Provides highly skilled technical assistance to NRC staff in the area of nuclear power plant (NPP) design, instrumentation, control, and operations. Serves as NRC Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and technical monitor for complex technical training contracts and procurements as assigned.

5. Mentors and professionally develops GG-13 level Reactor Technology Instructors assigned to their respective assigned reactor technology program.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: 

In addition to the basic educational requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as work which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position; demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nuclear reactor facility design and operation; and experience with development and implementation of training programs. Examples of specialized experience include (but are not limited to): work experience that required a Reactor Operator/Senior Reactor Operator (RO/SRO) license or certification, Shift Technical Advisor qualification, or instructor certification; experience with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process; or experience as a Senior Resident/Resident Inspector or Operator Licensing Examiner.

Education

1701, General Education and Training Series: Bachelor’s degree that included or was supplemented by major study in Education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major in Education.

The duty location of this position is Chattanooga, TN. This position may be eligible for situational telework in accordance with Agency policy.
