As a MATERIALS HANDLER (TITLE 32), WG-6907-5/6, you will carry out the complete warehousing operations relating to mobility assets to include providing management control, oversight, coordination, and implementation of the base Individual Protective Equipment, Airborne/Non-airborne Readiness Spares Packages, War Reserve Material, and Weapons programs and operations.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Manage, control, oversee, coordinate and implement the base mobility assets program and function.
  • Serve as the technical advisor to satellite units and Geographically Separated Units providing their mobility custodian with current information, guidance and training and accomplishes periodic inspection of their activity.
  • Establish augmentee requirements to support and sustain initial response and post deployment actions.
  • Provide day-to-day management and oversight of assigned personnel and monitors daily mobility assets operations and activities.
  • Responsible for the automated Mobility Inventory Control Accountability System (MICAS) database to include the installation of software upgrades and regular database backups.
  • Serve as the system administrator to manage and update mobility bag inventory data by loading, changing, and deleting personnel, kit configurations, locations, lot/contract information; and issues individual stocked items, generates hand receipts and condemns stock.
  • Ensure data integrity and proper accountability is maintained at all times.
  • Identify mobility bag and customer individual protective requirements.
  • Establish and control the MRSP/CRSP program for all assigned units.
  • Responsible for the storage of weapons identified for extended storage.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Combat Arms to complete required annual, pre and post embarkation inspections.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Enlisted only - E2-E5

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-6 Level MUST possess experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment; experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques; experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. WG-5 Level MUST possess experience or training demonstrating the ability to store, organize and/or rotate a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities. Familiar with basic warehouse procedures; experience in determining quantities of inventory items; experience in following oral and written instructions.
