Duties

Help

  • Broad and detailed knowledge of AN/FSQ-228C LAK TDL systems and the AN/FPS-117 Long Range Radar -Incumbent is the expert Radar Systems Technical Advisor to the Program Managers, covering program support, and quality assurance.
  • Sustains O&M concept and logistics support for new equipment to be installed at the Regional Air Operations Center (RAOC), Alaska Radar System (ARS), Forward Operating Locations (FOL), Radio Relay Sites (RRS), and Hawaiian sites.
  • Serves the Program Manager and Contracting Officer as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing technical data, advice, and support concerning areas of radars and associated systems maintenance regarding all aspects of contractor performance within administrative, managerial, operations, safety, and security functional areas.
  • Monitors actions on technical order changes, review of correspondence, regulations, and record maintenance.
  • Conducts studies on logistics problems for radar equipment or facilities at remote sites and Regional Air Operations Center (RAOC).

  • This position may require employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions Series 1670.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a comprehensive range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices related to the systems/equipment on the attached equipment list, including those that have complex technical requirements and require extensive specialized training and experience. Specialized practical and theoretical knowledge of assigned systems/equipment for application to difficult, unusual, and unprecedented situations and problems.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. In depth knowledge of radar systems, ancillary communications equipment.
  2. Knowledge of weather, navigational systems and Tactical Data Links (i.e. Link-16 AK).
  3. Skill and strong background knowledge in electronic theory, proposed maintenance procedures, contract manpower estimates, and proposed logistics support. Knowledge of circuit schematic diagrams, logic flow diagrams, and descriptions of equipment theory of operation and test equipment
  4. Working knowledge of program management, probability, statistics, evaluating maintenance procedures, contractmanpower estimates, and logistics support.
  5. Ability to articulate within writing and spoken communication. As well as plan, organize, and reprioritize to meetobjectives and deadlines.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
