As a Human Resources Specialist (Military), GS-0201-9, you will:

This position is located at in ANG HQ Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to perform technical, administrative and operational work supporting state-wide military personnel programs, operations and functions in the State Air National Guard (ANG) Headquarters. Incumbent is actively involved in final decisions and recommendations that are of major significance to military personnel; and administers and directs the Assistant Adjutant General - Air Support Staff functions to ensure the execution of day-to-day operations.

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Enlisted to MSgt. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.

  • Skill to research factual information regarding applicable rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements that provide explanations of actions taken or recommended.
  • Knowledge to maintain/review service records for accuracy.
  • Knowledge to process orders that include preparation, publication, distribution and tracking of civilian and military travel orders, annual training, and special training.
  • Skill in analyzing information, to determine its relevance, and to provide options to management/supervisors/military members regarding appropriate course of action.

MILITARY INCENTIVES:
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination of these military incentives.
