This job opportunity is located in the Survey Processing Branch, National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position performs clerical/technical processing of the statistical respondent data collected from the Company Organization Survey, Annual Survey of Manufactures, and the Economic Census. This position is included in the bargaining unit.

The individual selected for this position will:

  • Initiates contact with and/or responds to contact from respondents or subject-matter specialist to resolve reporting problems of varying complexity. Contacts respondents to collect data and performs analysis of statistical data in relation to previously reported data, resolving questionable data responses at the time of contact.
  • Assists in evaluation and research programs by assembling data from various sources, making statistical calculations, and summarizing results for professional review, with responsibility for carrying out all steps required in the analysis.
  • Conducts statistical research, problem solving, review of tabulation and analysis as to reasonableness of reported information.

Tour of Duty: Hours will range between 8:00am to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. Alternate Work Schedule is available. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You qualify at the grade 5 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 4 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience demonstrating the application of knowledge of statistical clerical procedures, methods and techniques, and the ability to analyze numerical data within a variety of clerical assignments.

Education Substitution: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college, university or business, secretarial, or technical school may be substituted for the required experience. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet qualifications.

Employees on a permanent appointment who were hired through a Recruiting Bulletin, who have not served in their current appointment for at least 90 days, are not eligible to apply. However, if this vacancy is in the same line of work as your current position (same qualification requirements), and selection for this position would not result in a promotion action the 90-day waiting period does not apply.
