The detailee for this position will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the Nuclear Inspection Division (Code 139).

This position will serve in a bridge program designed to give employees an opportunity to gain competencies necessary to qualify for a GS-1910 position. If selected, you will be placed in the position Not to Exceed One Year.

Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for the Code's accountability of work on projects assigned to him/her, assisting in coordination efforts with other personnel assigned to similar projects.
  • You will certify objective quality evidence or materials for shipyard maintenance work, reviewing and/or approving processes, project planning, establishing milestones to achieve project and/or code goals.
  • you will provide technical guidance and coordination efforts to other shipyard personnel to achieve desired results.
  • You will prepare formal reports which clearly and concisely identify project results.
  • You will serve in an advisory capacity providing consultation to the Supervisor/Branch head/Division Manager.
  • You will plan and review inspections for critical products and processes to ensure materials meet quality requirements.
  • You will review quality documentation to confirm that all critical work was properly authorized and performed.
  • You will identify problems with products and processes and coordinate with other departments to resolve them.
  • You will help develop and revise quality assurance instructions for inspections and surveillances.
  • You will review, process, and adjudicate quality audits and surveillances under supervision.

  • Must have received a Fully Successful or higher performance rating on last performance cycle.
  • This detail opportunity may be rescinded if detailee fails to meet position requirements.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.

  • This appointment is a temporary position that will not exceed one year.

Qualifications

You are eligible for this training opportunity if you have journey level trades experience in one of the following series: ALL JOURNEY AND HIGHER-LEVEL 2801/5301 SERIES EMPLOYEES.

Detail cannot result in a promotion or permanent position without further competition.

Detailee will continue to be paid by the home command, and salary will be reimbursed.
