Help
  • You will analyze, update, and develop technical data with established requirements.
  • You will work with a team of engineers and technicians in coordination of acquisition activities for conventional ammunition across organizations and commands and recommend solutions technical issues within established timelines.
  • You will prepare ammunition procurement data package documentation for higher level review, assist source selection efforts.
  • You will provide production support including evaluating related engineering change proposals (ECPs) and requests for variations (RFVs), track deliveries, and resolve routine acquisition related issues.
  • You will work with others in production acceptance and testing activities ensuring conforming product is being delivered to the fleet.
  • You will participate in failure analyses and contribute to determining and applying implemented corrective actions.
  • You will communicate with management and program sponsor to keep status of assigned program tasks updated.

Qualifications

FOR ND-02: You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study as described in the Education section of this flyer.

For the ND-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-05/08) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer utilizing basic engineering methods, principles and practices to support acquisition engineering projects related to munitions to ensure operational readiness.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Education can be substituted for experience at the ND-03 level (GS-9/11 equivalent) as follows:

bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement and one year of professional engineering experience that required and was characterized by 1) professional knowledge of engineering, 2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems, and 3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability.

2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree

or

master's or equivalent graduate degree

You'll serve as an Engineer in the Acquisition/In-Service Engineering Branch (W71), Conventional Ammunition Division (W7), Warfighter Defense/Sys Integration Department (W), Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

The ND-02 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-05-08 ($48,005-$85,608)

The ND-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-09/11 ($72,737-$114,413)

This announcement uses the STRL for Direct Support direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
