Duties

Help

? Serves as the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) subject matter expert on nutrition and public health, advising
senior leadership and internal divisions on health and wellness initiatives.

  • Develops and implements nutrition, health, and wellness policies and evidence-based strategies that support Defense Commissary Agency and Department of War/Department of War Workforce readiness goals.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with Service and Installation Dietitians, Department of War agencies, industry partners, and Veteran Service Organizations to advance wellness initiatives.
  • Oversees major nutrition programs, including the Dietitian Approved Thumb program and the Thinking Outside the Box meal-solution program, ensuring alignment with federal dietary guidelines.
  • Creates, reviews, and manages nutrition and wellness content across Defense Commissary Agency omni-channel platforms, including the Healthy Living webpage and public health messaging.
  • Conducts ongoing research on dietetic science, nutrition trends, and public health issues to guide program development and inform leadership decisions.
  • Develops and delivers training and outreach for Defense Commissary Agency employees and Department of War health and wellness professionals on using commissary resources to support mission readiness.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of advanced nutrition science and public health expertise to guide agency-wide wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Interprets peer-reviewed research and emerging dietetic trends to develop evidence-based nutrition content and policy recommendations.
  • Analyzes complex public health programs and coordinates with Department of War stakeholders to align wellness strategies.
  • Manages large-scale nutrition and health programs by setting goals, monitoring outcomes, and improving processes.
  • Designs public health marketing, menu planning, and nutrition education materials that support healthy food choices in commissaries.
  • Maintains status as a Registered Dietitian, meeting all professional credentialing and continuing education requirements.

Foreign education may be qualifying if a private organization specializing in interpreting foreign education programs has deemed the foreign education equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program or a U.S. accredited college or university has given full credit for the foreign courses.

Unofficial transcripts from U.S. Department of Education accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions listing your name, the name of the school, the date and degree awarded, and the list of classes and credits earned are acceptable for the application process. If selected, official transcripts are required before a firm job offer is made. A photocopy of your degree/diploma is not acceptable.
