Duties

Help

  • Provides appropriate developmental care for children in the CDC.
  • Provides childcare in compliance with Child Development guidelines.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to lower-graded caregivers assigned to designated classroom.
  • Develops and implements the daily lesson plan for assigned group/room.
  • Plans/coordinates parent involvement activities. Communicates with parents on a regular basis and ensures they are included in programs that require them to interact with their children.
  • Ensures established procedures for the health and safety of children in assigned area are strictlyadhered to.

  • Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
  • This position is a childcare/youth services position subject to appropriate background checks in accordance with Public Law (PL) 101-647.
  • Employee is subject to attend and complete required training, to include infant/child CPR, first aid, food handlers training, various child development training modules, customer service and annual training. (Cont'd)
  • (Cont'd) Must complete mandatory training modules within the timeline established by Air Force.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination and provide evidence of required shots/immunizations.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a current valid driver's license to drive to and from activity locations, meetings, for interoffice coordination, and/or during child development field trips.
  • Subject to work uncommon tours of duty to include evenings, early morning, and weekends.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally, or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. (Cont'd)
  • (Cont'd) Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101-647 Section 231, Public Law 102-190, Section 1094, and DoD Instruction 1402.05, background checks are required. (cont'd)
  • (cont'd) DD Form 2981 Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission, Installation Records Check, FBI fingerprint, and Tier 1 with a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
  • (cont'd) Renewal every five years of the Installation Records, FBI Fingerprint and SCHR is required with annual review of DD Form 2981.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
  • This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-04, level or band (or equivalent in other pay systems), which has equipped me with experience necessary to perform the job. Examples of creditable specialized experience include basic knowledge of child development strategies and techniques for promoting learning in young children.

OR
EDUCATION:
Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your
level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of the rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of flying training programs to perform specialized assignments in the academic scheduling function.
  2. Knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources to determine quality, accuracy, and applicability.
  3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; a qualified typist is not required.
  4. Skill in applying basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve conflicts and determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the program.
  5. Ability to use one or more established computer programs/software (Microsoft Office) to enter, maintain, sort, and retrieve organizational and/or program data.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
