Duties

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform any combination of the following duties, as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent, to maintain grounds and turf of golf course playing conditions; to apply prescribed amounts of fertilizer, seed. Exercise care not to injure turf or shrubs. Cut turf on green and tee areas, fairways, rough and banks, using lightweight power mowing equipment. Connect hose and sprinklers systems at designated points on course to irrigate turf, digs, and rakes ground to prepare new greens, grade, and traps, and repair roadbeds, using shovel, rakes, spades and other tools. May plant, trim trees and shrubs. Weed and maintain sand traps and flower gardens.

75% 1. Maintenance (Upkeep of the Grounds). Water, whip, aerify, seed, fertilize fairways, golfing greens, and putting greens. Water, repair, fertilize and seed the driving range area. Cut, water, and fertilize trees and shrubs. Maintain sand traps and water holes> perform corrective maintenance on structures and facilities used by the golfers. Change cups and set course for daily play.

20% 2. Maintenance (General). Maintenance and upkeep of golf course maintenance buildings which may include sweeping floors and other housekeeping procedures. Help Mechanic by washing equipment, greasing, checking and changing oil and sharpening rotary blades.

5% 3. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be 18 years old or older to operate equipment with exposed moving parts.
  • Must be able to handle weights up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to use Golf tools, ie: rake, hoe, tree, and shrub trimmer, riding mowers, and other tools relating to maintenance type of work.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA Installations. (review required documents section for more information.)

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess:

Posses a sound basic knowledge in the operation of lawn mowers, greens mowers, hand tools and other equipment assigned to the upkeep of the grounds.

Basic knowledge of the game of golf.

Experience in golf course and grounds maintenance is desirable.

Ability to perform manual labor. Ability to learn golf maintenance procedures.

Must be 18 years old or older to operate equipment with exposed moving parts.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
