Incumbent is assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Marina and Recreation Equipment Rental. Serves as senior Recreation Assistant providing leadership to personnel at the Marina and Recreation Equipment Rental, assisting the supervisor on scheduling, personnel training, and ensuring product coverage, display, and sales accountability. Performs and/or assists in the operation of the outdoor recreation marina and recreation equipment rental facility. Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of designated activity applying an understanding of the interest and needs of program participants. Typical assignments may include: Preparing boats for rental, including warm-ups, bilging the boats and verifying required safety equipment. Direct and assist all customers ensuring a safe departure and arrival of marina water crafts. Inspect boats for damages, informing Marina Manager immediately of damages if any are present. Responsible for securing and storing all marinas boats and ensure that all equipment is removed from them and stored properly. Responsible for cleaning, fueling and preparing all marina water craft to meet rental needs. Ensure all portable gas tanks are filled. Demonstrates procedures common to the marina recreation activities. Instructs in the use of related equipment such as life vests, fishing gear, kayaks, erecting bouncy houses and operation of our marina water crafts. Assists in performing household chores associated with the boat maintenance, cleaning and equipment preparation procedures. Conducts instructional classes in the recreational area. Helps to plan and coordinate details of recreational activities and maintains related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants. 

Lead Recreation Assistants are assigned the dual responsibility of enforcing and being aware of boat and water safety. It is their assignment to ensure that all patrons are aware of and abide by Marina rules and regulations. Daily assignments include Take directions and assignments from the Marina Manager or the Outdoor Recreation Manager. 

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

One year experience in outdoor water recreational types activities. Ability to answer questions from patrons and to ensure recreational equipment is operational and safe. Must be able to learn MCCS policies, rules, and regulations involving the work area, and have ability to communicate orally, and be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 45 pounds. Must be able to work weekend and holidays. Must have a valid driver's license.
