Duties

Help

  • Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work orders.
  • Troubleshoots HVAC/R systems with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgement to locate malfunctions.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditoning (AC) and cooling systmens with complex problems and extensive repairs.
  • Installs, modifies, overhauls, repairs, and maintains a variety of complex heating boilers and/or heating systems, single and multiple fuel power boilers, and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment.
  • Performs essential electrical work incidental to the maintenance and operation of HVAC/R systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on HV AC/R systems and equipment.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regualtions and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • This position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • This position will be required to train/guide lower graded (or other trades) military/civilian employees.
  • Selectee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and shift work and emergency overtime may be required.
  • This position may require Flightline driving/testing and selectee may be required to participate in mobility exercises.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trail period.
  • Selectee must obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
  • This position may require occasional work travel away from the normal duty station.
  • Employee may be required to travel on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Selectee will be required to work in emergency situations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance And Operations Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
