Duties

Help
  • You will determine requirements to support NSWDG security operations based on standing orders, commander's intent, estimates of the situation, and direction from the Security Officer and Deputy Security Officer.
  • You will ensure all personnel are properly cleared to handle information as required by their duties.
  • You will ensure security investigation of the command personnel are current.
  • You will recommend action to be taken when derogatory information surfaces on individuals with access to classified information.
  • You will manage, track and report on security violations, infractions, and possible compromises to determine cause and potential damage to national security.

  • You may be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS for approximately 30% of the time. May be required to travel on military or civilian aircraft or waterborne craft, deploy onboard ships, or serve at remote sites.
  • The incumbent will, at a minimum, have constructive possession of weapons. position will require, at a minimum, possession of a weapon. This position is covered by the domestic violence amendment (Lautenberg Amendment) to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Fundamental Professional Certification within 2 years of appointment into this position.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You may be exposed to hazardous or hostile environments and may be authorized special/danger pay as provided by the Department of State, the Office of Personnel Management, or other agency regulations.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector responsible for security administration functional specialties including information, industrial, personnel and physical security across several security disciplines.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting the senior Security Specialist, monitoring, coordinating, tracking and reporting security operations, violations and infractions; assisting the senior Security Specialist monitoring, coordinating, tracking and reporting security operations, violations and infractions; facilitating security programs in the areas of Information Security, Physical Security, or Personnel Security.
