Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Assist examining Medical Officer with applicant examination and identification of disqualifying enlistment/retention factors and/or determination of applicant’s fitness for military duty.
Perform Medical Technician duties (i.e., collect and process medical specimens, perform laboratory testing, monitor and stock medical supplies, etc.).
Ensure proper maintenance of medical testing/evaluative equipment.
Provide technical guidance to subordinates.
Lead Medical Exam Function team.
Verify applicants’ identity using previously captured biometrics (i.e., digital fingerprints and photographs).
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
Applicant must undergo blood testing on a yearly basis.
This position requires incumbent to successfully complete Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position requires the applicant to use restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves and non-exposing footwear.
This position may require occasional Saturday work and occasional shift work (before 0600 and after 1800 hours).
Twenty-five percent business travel or temporary duty (TDY) requirement on an annual basis.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
