Duties

Help
  • Exercises knowledge of the legislative process to evaluate the impact of legislation on Agency programs, functions or missions.
  • Assist with the development of high-level briefing documents, testimony, talking points, and written responses to congressional inquiries-with clarity and precision-for senior officials and members of Congress.
  • Administers an internal tracking tool to maintain compliance for Agency tasks from Department assignments, Congressional Requests for Information and Committee directed actions.
  • Coordinates all congressional actions internally for assignment and legislative programs with the Office of the General Counsel, Office of the Chief of Staff and internal Agency offices.
  • Provides support to ensure timely, and fully coordinated submission(s) for all Congressional actions related to Reports, Requests for Information, NDAA, and any task from higher Headquarters are submitted per the mandated and required deadline.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

  • Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification
  • This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent may be subject to initial and random drug testing.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as having experience with the legislative process to evaluate the impact of legislation on Agency programs, functions or missions.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level
