Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a member of the entry control/vehicle inspection team which conducts private and commercial vehicles inspections.
  • You will have the ability to retain all persons found to be unauthorized to enter the installation.
  • You may be required to appear as a competent witness in a court of law, may be required to testify on the results of investigations performed and violations observed.
  • You will make sound decisions regarding vehicle entry control issues based on experience and good judgment and direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during emergencies and normal rush hour traffic.
  • You will take action in the event of emergency situations to include but not limited to: accidents/incidents/drills, fire or other natural disasters, motor vehicle/industrial accidents, political demonstrations, hostage/terrorist situations, etc.
  • You will perform other related duties, as assigned.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license from state of residence.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Required to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions (I.E., applicable Navy, Federal and State certifications) and required to re-familiarize themselves with authorized weapons periodically.
  • You will be required to successfully complete and pass a yearly physical examination and continue to be physically fit. Required to pass Physical Agility Test.
  • This position may include assignment to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays as well as call back and emergency overtime may be requirements.
  • Work will require, on a regular and recurring basis, long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, standing, stretching, lifting, transporting and bending; and wearing a uniform and comply with grooming standards.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Work is performed for the most part outdoors in the heat, cold, rain, and wind during the hours of daylight and darkness; with work in or under extremely dangerous conditions.

Qualifications

GS-04: You resume must demonstrate six months of general experience performing administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information, AND six months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-03) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. NOTE: This information must be supported by your resume.

GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Physically examining identification for access to restricted areas;2) Assisting with regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations;3) Monitoring personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Preforming private and commercial vehicle inspections. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-04:
Successful completion of at least two full academic years of education above high school
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
