Duties

Help
  • Plans and conducts comprehensive on-site physical security surveys, inspections and/or anti-terrorism assessments.
  • Conducts inspections of designated tenant activities and all security areas specified by the commander as mission essential or vulnerable to sabotage, theft, robbery, burglary, and other forms of criminal activity.
  • Serves as Security Key and Lock Control Officer.
  • Using data gathered during inspections, conducts surveys as required and/or requested by the depot staff, directors, and higher headquarters.
  • Develops methods and types of periodic penetration tests of the installation and restricted areas to determine that all security areas meet regulatory requirements, trains and directs the team members assigned to perform the tests.

  • One year probationary period required.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Physical Security inspector credentials, DA Form 4261-1, in accordance with AR 190-13.
  • Must undergo and pass pre-appointment physical examination and meet established hearing and vision tests.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • May be required to work emergency overtime.
  • May be required to work irregular tours of duty, weekends and Federal holidays.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Position does not require employee to carry a weapon; however, must have access to Arms Room.
  • Position is Emergency and Mission Essential.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting security inspections or evaluations 2) Determining or identifying security threats or issues 3) Assisting in developing or reviewing security plans, policies or guidelines 4) Assisting in Security Key and Lock Control. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice or Security Management. OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (You must upload a copy of your transcripts.)
