Conduct surveys, independently or in conjunction with a hygienist, to identify and evaluate potential health hazards.
Determine compliance with established Federal guidelines.
Gather and interpret field data in order to write reports in accordance with industrial hygienist format.
In conjunction with other specialists, participate in or arrange for the parent command to assist in the development of controls to minimize or eliminate actual or potential health hazards.
Coordinate, schedule, and conduct regular inspections of all work areas to ensure that workers are wearing the required personal protective devices and that work practices designed to minimize or eliminate hazards are being followed.
Perform respirator fit testing per appropriate standards and guidelines. Provides worker training on respirator selection, usage, care, sanitation practices and chemical health hazards in the workplace.
Maintain lab facilities, equipment - calibration logs, and submits samples for analysis. Receive and issue equipment.
Maintain a current inventory of health hazards; orders, receive and ensure supply economy of expendable supplies.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
One- year probationary period may be required.

Require heavy physical exertion, including extensive bending, lifting, climbing, stooping, and working in cramped areas with potentially inadequate heating, lighting, and ventilation.
