Summary

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the 35th Force Support Squadron Central Warehouse.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Supervisory Distribution Facilities Specialist in the economic and efficient operations of the Central Warehouse

This is a Regular Full-Time position; guaranteed 40 hours a week depending on the needs of the facility.

Duties

Help

  • Manages expendable and nonexpendable supply equipment items for FSS activities through stock control, requisitioning, delivery and inventory control.
  • Analyzes such factors as usage rates, inventory, seasonal demands, prices, special projects or program changes.
  • Determines quantities required and timely stock replenishment and rotation by use of experienced judgment, historical data, occupancy and utilization.
  • Establishes and maintains minimum stock levels of all expendable supplies and amenities to assure adequate inventory of items to prevent work stoppage.
  • Manages stocks of perishable items to ensure that items are used before expiration dates.
  • Receives, counts, weighs, and checks items to ensure vendor delivery of all items and products listed on purchase order.
  • Inspects deliveries for damage prior to receiving.
  • Notes overages, shortages, or any damage incurred in shipping.
  • Prepares cargo and equipment for outbound shipments.
  • Utilizes FoodTrak program.
  • Maintains self-inspections checklists.
  • Establishes and maintains the appropriate security of high value and items subject to pilferage.
  • Maintains material safety data sheets (MSDS) on all chemical solutions stocked.
  • Performs pickup and delivery of supplies, amenities, and equipment at scheduled intervals to ensure an adequate stock at all work-centers.
  • Salvages broken or obsolete supplies and equipment according to applicable directives and policies.
  • Maintains an accurate accounting and reporting system for non-expendable property and performs routine phases of property management according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for warehousing of expendable and non-expendable backup stocks according to generally accepted supply warehousing and safety policies and standards.
  • Picks up various supply documents from warehouse office/remote terminals.
  • Properly sorts and/or distributes to appropriate storage area for further processing.
  • Maintains and catalogs files of items, description patterns, reference groups, military standards, specifications, cataloging manuals, and/or other cataloging tools providing for up-to-date information and easy retrieval without undue delays.
  • Ensures maintenance and preventive maintenance are performed on all warehousing equipment and tools.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Operates heavy duty vehicles including trucks up to 4 tons, gasoline and electric powered forklifts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
  • Must have responsible experience and knowledge or supply work, which includes knowledge of rules, regulations, procedures, and programs of the local supply organization and the facilities serviced.
  • Knowledge of supply inventory and accountability procedures and regulations.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid operator's license appropriate for the size and type of vehicle operated.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check.

Misawa Air Base is located approximately 400 miles north of Tokyo, adjacent to Misawa City in Aomori Prefecture in Tohoku, which has a population of approximately 42,000 people. There are about 3,500 U.S. military personnel assigned to Misawa, along with 300 U.S. civilian employees and more than 1,000 local national employees.

What is NAF Employment?
NAF employment is considered federal employment. It is, however, different from federal civil service employment because the monies used to pay the salaries of NAF employees come from a different source. Civil service positions are paid for by money appropriated by Congress. NAF money, on the other hand, is self-generated by Air Force clubs, bowling centers, golf courses, and other activities that use NAF employees.
