Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Security Guard force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installation
  • Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the security guard force.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Receives and reviews daily reports from subordinates and ensures the correction of reported irregularities.
  • Plans and coordinates the activities of a guard force shift, to ensure the maintenance of physical security standards.
  • Develops training plans based on approved training courses and regulatory requirements and supervises necessary training for guard personnel in the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage, and other organized subversive actions

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • This position requires the employee to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • Employee will be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing a range of law enforcement functions and activities such as the protection of life and property, physical security, access control and /or anti-terrorism measures, and reviewing law enforcement reports; (2) Planning and/or coordinating the activities of a shift; and (3) Providing advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    • Must know first aid and act as a first responder in a medical emergency

    • Must be able to fully qualify to operate a government vehicle.
    • Must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
    • Must be medically able to wear chemical protective mask and overgarments for safety purposes.
