Duties

Help
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises assigned personnel to ensure efficient and timely completion of all work activities.
  • Supervises, trains, and advises assigned personnel to promote consistent performance and professional growth.
  • Plans and prepares assigned projects, exercising necessary supervisory authority to ensure completion within established timeframes.
  • Manages an extensive enterprise budget to advance technical innovation, uphold standards and training, and sustain both standard and non standard exploitation equipment.
  • Directs effort towards Technical Exploitation and forensics of computer systems, and other electronic devices, to support the organization’s operational effectiveness.
  • Establishes and maintains direct liaison with officials to coordinate strategies, standards, and development efforts.
  • Represents the organization during deployment to support the initiatives of the Theater COCOMs and Command Partners.
  • Manages production workflows, data standards, and forensic dissemination requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance across the organization.
  • Enhances exploitation capabilities and coordinates and synchronizes efforts with intelligence and law enforcement components to ensure unified operational outcomes.
  • Provides oversight of a multi faceted digital exploitation enterprise to ensure effective triage, acquisition, and dissemination of digital evidence.
  • Anticipates information shortfalls related to Captured Enemy Material (CEM) focused intelligence problems and evaluates data for consistency and correlation with other sources to support accurate analytical outcomes.
  • Recommends the implementation of emerging technical solutions to strengthen command exploitation strategies.
  • Prioritizes taskings for emerging technology research and development, sustainment budgeting, and forensic standards maintenance to support intelligence and law enforcement partners.
  • Formulates, develops, and implements CEM collection and exploitation strategies to address priority intelligence requirements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
  • The position may require temporary duty (TDY) 30 days or less travel to various locations up to 30% of the time.
  • Position is subject to random drug testing. Incumbent must pass a drug test.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical and thereafter prior to OCONUS travel over 30 days. Individual must be able to maintain qualifications for required access to perform temporary duty with other governmental agencies as directed.
  • This position is deployable and may require extended TDY to OCONUS locations. This position requires a pre-employment physical and thereafter prior to OCONUS travel over 30 days.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete counter-intelligence scope polygraph with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
  • Employee must reside within the local area (50 miles) and able to report to work within an hour notice.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education AND experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physical Scientist (Digital Forensic Examiner/Latent Prints):

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in 1.) Assists in planning and coordinating project activities to ensure efficient workflow execution of mission tasks; AND 2.) Assists in prioritizing responsibilities for emerging technology research and development, sustainment initiative budgeting, and forensic standards maintenance to support organizational needs; AND 3.) Understanding and managing production workflows, data standards, and digital forensic dissemination while coordinating exploitation efforts with intelligence and law enforcement partners; AND 4.) Supports identifying information gaps, recommending emerging technical solutions, and applying CEM exploitation strategies to meet the organization's intelligence requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Education
