Help
  • Provide support to the organization on a national real estate appraisal program.
  • Ensure real estate appraisals are in compliance with all federal regulations.
  • Develop innovative procedures to address appraisal issues that are unusual or unique.
  • Formulate plans for uniform implementation of valuation management controls for a national real estate appraisal program.
  • Advise senior management officials on all appraisal valuation, policy, or other related procedural matters.
  • Recommend to senior management official's revisions to policies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a professional development mentor for a national real estate appraisal program.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Resolving appraisals issues that are unusual or unique to ensure effective program execution; AND 2) Reviewing work completed by appraisers including cost estimates or feasibility studies to ensure accuracy; AND 3) Developing policies and procedures for real estate appraisal programs to improve operational efficiency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13 or above).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years; however, return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
  • Current, permanent USACE employees who are selected for this position will receive administrative return rights for the duration of the initial assignment and for any extensions up to 3 years, with potential to request further return rights to a maximum of 5 years. Return rights for non-USACE Army employees will be negotiated upon selection. If return rights are approved, a return rights agreement/statement of understanding will be required to be completed prior to appointment.
