Help
  • If selected at the GS-12 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.
  • Performs cybersecurity assessments for contractor compliance and to provide an assessment rating.
  • Reviews contractor unclassified information systems as defined in the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), Department of Defense (DoD), and DCMA guidance.
  • Evaluates the contractor's information security and privacy policies, standards and procedures for completeness.
  • Monitors and stays abreast of new Defense Industrial Base cybersecurity policy, regulations, and directives.
  • Periodically serves as the lead assessor and provides in-the-field and virtual leadership on cybersecurity assessments within an assigned team.
  • Formally represents the organization during assessments and effectively articulate assessment report results and findings.

Qualifications

To qualify for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13, level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:


GS-12:

  • Assisting with activities designed to protect IT systems and services.
  • Reviewing contractor's information systems to ensure compliance with IT security requirements
GS-13:
  • Operating, administering, maintaining, and protecting information technology (IT) networks or systems.
  • Understanding of IT security management tools and procedures to implement, monitor, and evaluate contractor's compliance with policies and regulations.
Specialized experience is any experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled. This includes:

  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

  • Information Assurance (IA) Position: This position requires an Information Assurance (IA) Level II; certification within nine months of entering the position.
    • GS-12, This position requires 8140 Intermediate Foundational requirements (2-3 years of direct Cyber related experience).
    • GS-13, This position requires 8140 Advanced Foundational requirements (3-5 years of direct Cyber related experience)
