Security and Law Enforcement Operations Division 

Salary: $84,271 - $88,528

This is a non-supervisory position 

Job Summary: 

The incumbent plays a vital role in coordinating and overseeing security projects impacting the Congressional district office environment. This position emphasizes collaboration and communication with key partners, including the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), and security vendors. Responsibilities include coordinating assessments, facilitating installations and maintenance, as well as inventory management.

Duties:

Typical duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Serves as the primary project liaison between the SAA, Congressional district offices, security vendors, and the United States Capitol Police (USCP).
  • Assists with the mail safety hood program and ensures accuracy in all related processes.
  • Build positive working relationships with SAA managers and organizational staff.
  • Advocates on behalf of Member offices to ensure effective communication, coordination, and deconfliction of District projects with Members, staff, and District office operations.
  • Assists in defining project scopes, boundaries, and timelines. Assists with ensuring completion of district office assessments, vendor quotes, vendor maintenance, quality assurance tracking, vendor monitoring, and equipment inventories.
  • Supports and develops internal project schedules, tracking milestones, and identifying deconfliction priorities.
  • Assists in the preparation of project status reports, highlighting progress, challenges, and potential roadblocks.
  • Maintains accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, project work plans, reports and data entry.  Ensures all project documentation and associated data are properly archived in the SLEO repository structure.
  • Assists in developing after-action reviews and participates in post-project reviews internally and with district security partners to identify lessons learned for future projects.
  • Apply a basic understanding of common physical security equipment and systems, vulnerabilities, and controls.
  • Utilizes project management technology such as Asana, MS Teams, and Outlook to effectively assist the Security Projects team.
  • Support the Manager, District Security Projects, to further the goals of the SAA Office.
  • Maintains proficiency in matters related to the House Coordination Center and serves as a SLEO liaison, as needed, to ensure the timely delivery of information to SAA leadership as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in security, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The position requires preparing time-sensitive reports and communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and disseminate information effectively.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Experience in coordinating activities between different organizations or teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple time sensitive and event driven tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn relevant stakeholder roles, House Rules, Committee rules, and House Sergeant at Arms policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with security systems, installations, project management, and project management systems.
  • Background in security analysis or physical security assessment.
  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., project management).
  • Prior experience working with or within the legislative branch or government and. familiarity with the Capitol Hill complex and its security protocols.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to senior-level staff.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This position is based on a typical office environment. Actual weight handled varies, but the role involves handling items including books, documents, and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. The incumbent should be capable of meeting physical requirements, which may include sitting, lifting, bending, crouching, walking, and standing.

Security Requirements:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
