As a SUPERVISORY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, GS-0346-13, you will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the assignment, and the capabilities of employees. Provide employees with advice, counsel or instruction on both work and administrative matters. Maintain military and full-time strength through recruiting and retention programs. Interviews candidates for positions in the unit and selects appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, provides or arranges for needed development and training, and maintains an effective leadership/career development program. Make critical judgments and on-the-spot decisions regarding the safety of assigned personnel. Hear and resolve employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher-level management. Initiate action to correct performance or conduct problems. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

  • KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Military Grades: O5

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the knowledge to demonstrate you have the ability to:

  1. Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions;
  2. Plan and organize work; and
  3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Such experience should have been gained in administrative, education, or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1-year specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower level that allows you to demonstrate the mastery of general supply program management by applying new concepts and developments to supply problems, formulate and approve operating procedures necessary to support the USP&FO and the requirements of supported units and activities. Monitor, recommend, and coordinate automation of logistics functions and programs and advise the USP&FO and Command Staff on installation logistics, transportation, and supply readiness status of units.
