About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Moose Run Golf Course on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK.

Regular Part-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 20 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Duties

Help

Works under the direction of the Assistant Golf Course Manager who is available to deal with unusual situations which may occur providing guidance and instructions when performing new or procedurally complex duties. Manager on duty in the absence of the Golf Course Manager, Assistant Manager, and Supervisory Administrative Assistant. Leads a staff of 3 - 12 employees, assigns and reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly, or longer basis.

As a working leader, performs the following types of duties: an extensive knowledge of rules, operations, and practices, and judgement in locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines is required; exercises independent judgement. Supervises a workforce of at least 5 Laborers (Cart Attendants); assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinates, and evaluates their work performance; approving or disapproving sick leave, annual leave, or other absences from work. Plans, schedules, and coordinates work operations, solving problems related to the work supervised; determining equipment and supplies needed; and explaining and gaining the support of subordinates for management policy and goals

Provides golf instruction and clinics that are consistent with instructional methods, policies, and procedures. Stays informed and promotes all golf course activities and services. Assists in planning and budgeting for the golf instruction operations. Manages in-house golf tournaments and outings. Explains use of various products, answers questions concerning various aspects of products, and assists patrons in fitting apparel and golf equipment. May operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system, records sales, receive credit card, cash, and gift card payments. May assist with cleaning golf carts and rental clubs. Performs all other related duties as assigned

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in teaching golf and running golf tournaments. Must have extensive knowledge of golf rules, regulations, and culture. Must have the demonstrated ability to supervise 3 or more Laborers (Cart Attendants). Knowledge of the Club Prophet POS system. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. PGA Class A membership highly desired.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
