Duties

Help
  • Performs a variety of preventive maintenance tasks involving inspection, maintenance and repair of buildings, exterior and interior structures, and related fixtures and utilities
  • Repairs or replaces floors, ceilings, walls, screens, windows and window frames, sashes, doors, door jams, porches, fire escape landing, stairways, ladders, built-in fixtures.
  • Removes old carpeting and floor tile, strips old glue from floor, and installs new floor tile , carpet, or carpet tiles.
  • Troubleshoots the electronic lock system.
  • Performs spot check of vehicles, checking for body damage and excessive wear and tear.

  • Appointment may require a suitability/fitness determination.
  • Operates a 2 1/2 ton truck. Must possess and maintain a state drivers license.
  • Safety boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs are required.
  • Subject to work in confined space and with hazardous waste and hazardous material.
  • Immunization screening may be required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MAINTENANCE MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the full range of maintenance and repair activities at a Medical Facility to include replacing floors, ceilings and or walls, maintaining electronic and conventional locks. I am skilled in the use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry, masonry, roofing, engraving, plumbing and painting trades to perform a variety of tasks in performing maintenance of buildings and facilities. I also am skilled in the operation and repair of a motor vehicles, performing spot checks and preventative maintenance. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Work involves walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, stooping, bending, and climbing. Work may be done in awkward and cramped positions. Frequently lifts objects weighting up to 70 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds -
  • Works outside and inside in heat, cold, excessive humidity, excessive dampness or chilling weather. Works on concrete floors, work is noisy, dirty, smoky, and involves exposures to fumes, gases, solvents, grease and oils, Works in areas where slippery or uneven walking surfaces are present including ladders or scaffolding. Exposed to cuts, bruises and falls from ladders. Works around machinery, objects or vehicles with moving parts. -
  • Subject to work in confined space and with hazardous waste and hazardous material.
