Duties

Help
  • Supervise patrol operations and guide responses to crimes, complaints, and emergencies to ensure effective law enforcement and public safety.
  • Coordinate emergency responses between law enforcement, security, fire, and other units to ensure incident resolution and public safety.
  • Inventory keys, weapons, ammunition, and equipment at shift changes to ensure accountability and readiness.
  • Assign work to subordinate supervisors and review completed tasks to ensure compliance with organizational policies and operational standards.
  • Prepare law enforcement reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and support legal requirements.

  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires incumbent to carry a firearm and remain proficient in the use of assigned weapon.
  • This position requires incumbent to be certified in use of radar detection equipment and alcohol detection equipment.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in leading or guiding law enforcement patrols; directing responses to crimes, complaints, and emergencies; overseeing investigations of thefts, assaults, and drug-related incidents; preparing law enforcement reports; and coordinating emergency responses with security, fire, and other units. This specialized experience is equivalent to work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-08).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualifications requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
