The Curator's Office was created by Chief Justice Warren E. Burger in 1973 to record and preserve the Court's history. Its mission is to promote a greater public understanding and appreciation of the nation's highest court. The Summer Assistant provides entry-level support to the Collections Management department. Duties include participating in an inventory of objects in the collection, cataloguing in a collections management database, assisting with a collections maintenance program, rehousing collection objects, conducting high-resolution digital imaging, and assisting with historical research.
The Program is competitive and draws from a highly qualified applicant pool. Previous experience with museum collections, knowledge of collections principles and practices, and experience with The Museum System (TMS) or similar software strongly preferred. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer proficiency are required.

Summer assistants are expected to work for a minimum of 10-12 weeks, not to exceed 90 days.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree, be currently enrolled in, and have completed at least one semester in a graduate degree program in Museum Studies, History, Art History, or other similar program of study.
