Help
  • Serves as an IT Specialist in the Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Services Branch (J64BCC) of the Telecommunications Operations Division (J64BC), Enterprise Information Systems (J64), DLA Information Operations (J6).
  • Responsible for providing updates and improvements to VTC/SV program operations
  • Develops, documents, briefs and justifies recommended solutions and/or program improvements including cost/benefit assessments.
  • Prepares and recommends policies and procedures; and provides guidance and resource planning for lower grade VTC personnel.
  • Provides and oversees the full range of local site user/customer VTC/SV support services (including VTC/SV scheduler and monitor meetings), and identifies, isolates and resolves device and site connectivity problems.
  • Performs technical and analytical work in the planning, development, integration, utilization or modification of communications VTC network infrastructure and systems, devices, facilities.
  • Responsible for updating site network maps; configuring and maintain VTC Management equipment
  • Troubleshoots all video equipment and communication issues, reconfiguring the system, checking protocols, network connectivity issues, and Fire Wall connectivity problems.
  • Prepares monthly system usage and cost reports for supervisor review

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (NETWORK), your qualifications must include:
A. . One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Proficiency in current Video Collaboration Teleconference communication concepts, protocols and deployment.
  • Mastery in installing software patches to the VTC CODECs as necessary and/or system configuration modifications for Classified and Unclassified video and network devices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT network systems design principles, methodologies, standards, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing and maintaining network services that support Video Collaboration functional requirements.
  • Knowledge of Video Telepresence and Streaming Video operating devices, systems and architecture. Including CISCO Meeting Server, Cisco Unified Collaboration principles, Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS), Digital Streaming Encoders.
  • Ability to organize, prepare and conduct oral and informational briefings and customer training associated with video telepresence etiquette and secure video telepresence

Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
