Duties

Help
  • You will provide technical assistance on emergent and less urgent but complex technical problems.
  • You will provide technical/ engineering guidance to ships force in resolution of repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems beyond the level of in-house engineering expertise.
  • You will perform functional checkouts, groomings, adjustments, and tests of new or modernized shipboard systems.
  • You will develop detailed reports, recommendations and correspondence.
  • You will develop solutions to design problems and resolutions of conflicting engineering requirements.

  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.

  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Using comprehensive knowledge to troubleshoot and repair shipboard Electronics Radar systems, Distribution Systems, Shipboard Electronic control systems, and all other aspects of the shipboard radar systems and; 2) Troubleshooting Shipboard Navigation systems to perform repairs and conduct maintenance and; 3) Familiarity troubleshooting SPS-73 RADAR and SPS-77 RADAR systems to perform repairs and conduct maintenance. Tour of duty will be 18 months unaccompanied/ 24 months accompanied.

The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week)

Several vacancies may be filled.

The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Accompanied tours are not guaranteed.

Relocation and recruitment incentives up to 25% may be authorized. The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week).

Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
