Duties

Help
  • Performs seasonal opening andclosing of waterborne fixtures and facilities to include the opening and closing of main valves
  • Performs equipment operation.
  • Operates an industrial-type, rubber-tired and/or field type tractor with attachments to mow grass and perform typical farm-field type operations.
  • Uses common woodworking tools, i.e. tape measures, rulers, squares, planes, screwdrivers, power saws, and power planers.
  • Performs a variety of minor electrical repair and maintenance work to project buildings and facilities.
  • Transports personnel, material, and equipment throughout the Project, on Federal, State and County roads at highway speeds and on City streets with lower speed limits.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position meets the criteria for random drug and alcohol testing under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE ER 690-1-1218.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 7412, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Safety-Sensitive Under the DOT, Federal Highway Administration Rules on Drug and Alcohol Testing.
  • Incumbent will be required to operate a motor vehicle that requires a Commercial Drivers License(CDL) and must obtain CDL within one year of entrance on duty.
  • A pre-employment physical is required; additional follow-up physical exams are required every two(2) years to maintain CDL.
  • Required to work inside and outside exposed to all weather conditions.
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Required to observe established safe working procedures; and, wear appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common full range of maintenance duties associated with a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other trades appropriate to this position. I have performed these duties on my own initiative with only general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I am able to perform strenuous work as required by the position. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works from ladders, scaffolds, and on platforms in cramped and hard to reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in awkward, tiring and uncomfortable positions. Moderate to heavy physical effort is involved, frequently lifting, moving, and carrying items up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, handling heavy equipment, parts, tools and materials, pushing wheelbarrows and running power mowers. Considerable arm movement in painting, carpentry and engineering equipment operating work.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside exposed to all weather conditions. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease, oils, and noisy conditions. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors. Area is frequently inadequately heated and cooled. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, holidays and weekends. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions and its use is mandatory.
