Duties

Help
  • Independently performs, with little or no supervision, installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Incumbent is responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
  • Operates and performs research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.
  • Incumbent serves as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents.
  • Implements the installation closure plan securing ACPs at heightened FPCONs, emergencies or disasters and then becomes a part of the installation response capability.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
  • Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms and weapons
  • IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • Incumbent must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing on-the-job security guard training to coworkers; safeguarding personnel, property, and/or technologies against threats such as theft, unlawful entry, damage, and destruction; verifying identification and/or credentials to grant access to a protected area; and inspecting containers, personal property, and/or documents on private, commercial, and/or government vehicles.
