Duties

Help
  • You will observe the standard industrial arts and handcrafts activities of an organization's art program.
  • You will oversee the planning and organizing of multiple programs and activities offered by an Arts and Crafts Center.
  • You will analyze formal and informal serviced population needs to ensure an arts and crafts program addresses the needs of all elements.
  • You will coordinate and manage events, classes, and major annual events for an Arts and Crafts Center.
  • You will plan and promote events, classes, and major annual events for an Arts and Crafts Center.
  • You will provide or arrange needed development and training for employees.
  • You will monitor monthly expenditures with regard to budgeted goals for an Arts and Crafts Center.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: Planning, supervising, administering, or carrying out an educational, recreational, cultural, or other art program (e.g., art festivals, competitions, or workshops) utilizing knowledge of the theories and techniques of original and creative forms of art. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is a combination of office work and manual labor as the director can be involved with making a wide variety of repairs, completing self-help projects or cleaning facilities and repairing equipment. Typically, the employee works in an office setting, however, there is physical exertion in, handling tools, materials, and equipment of the various skills development activities, and in organizing the physical environment, plus the employee is required to do considerable walking and to drive an automobile when overseeing activities and when moving from one Arts and Crafts area to another. No special physical demands are required to perform the work of this position

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment involves risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places woodworking facilities, photography labs, offices, industrial settings, and instructional classroom settings. Activities are usually planned and conducted in a building or an outdoor area especially suited for an arts and craft program or activity. Heating, lighting, ventilation, sanitation, and safety features are adequate in such buildings and outdoor areas.
A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.


Education

In lieu of specialized experience applicant must have:

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of education plus percentage of experience must equal 100%
