Duties

Help
  • Serves as Chief, Environmental Division and senior staff consultant on all environmental program requirements at a large multi-mission installation.
  • Provides program oversight of activities related to compliance, conservation, restoration and pollution prevention.
  • Manages the installation environmental program in consonance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Evaluates compliance and effectiveness of program in consonance with HQDA goals and objectives; develops corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Maintains awareness of current and emerging environmental regulations and policies; monitors impact on mission and operations and advises installation commander and senior mission commander and tenant leadership.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent of this position must be able to qualify for and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Utilizing local guidelines related to environmental protection such as: State and Federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures; 2) Creating budget requirements for environmental projects; 3) Developing environmental policies to support hazardous waste minimization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position of the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
