As a Admissions Specialist (Director of Admissions/Registrar), GS-0301-11, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Manage and oversee SIPI's Department of Admissions including student admissions, registrar, enrollment, housing admissions, and the student accountant office.
  • Serve as technical expert and advisor on all matters related to transfer courses/credits between institutions.
  • Administer the student registration processes including payment of fees, processing student ID's and student application reviews and eligibility determinations.
  • Serve as the immediate supervisor to staff in the Department of Admissions ensuring effective and efficient management and operations.
  • Prepare reports related to funding, higher learning commission accreditation, enrollment statistical data and demographics, financial aid, and academic programs, and member of AACRO.
  • Provide ongoing review and evaluation of the Student Information System.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

GS-11: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Examples include: Experience in student admissions and related services, including registrar, enrollment and student accounting; overseeing compliance with academic policies and graduation requirements; advising on transfer credit policies; administering registration and records processes; evaluating and improving student information systems; compiling reports for accreditation and funding; and maintaining relationships with internal and external college admissions stakeholders.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related to the position.
OR
Combination of experience and graduate education as described above and when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required unless you are using education to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

Additional information

Initial appointments to the competitive or excepted service: The probationary or trial period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service.
