Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common tasks including operating gasoline or diesel powered construction and maintenance equipment; performing routine maintenance on equipment and inspecting equipment for signs of wear or damage. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order)

  • Physical Efforts: The physical demands of the worker are high since he is required to operate several different types of equipment and also various types of hand tools doing hand labor. Good hand, foot and eye coordination, depth perception and concentration are required. When possible and practical, mechanical hoists, dollies, hand trucks, etc., are used and fellow workers assist when needed. At no time is the pace or weight lifts to exceed safety, regulations. Worker is required to keep his eyes and ears open at all times and be able to distinguish color. A physical examination is required each year for operators.
  • Working Conditions: The worker when operating equipment is exposed to moving machinery practically all the time. He may receive from very minor to fatal injuries if he disregards rules and regulations governing the operation and performance of his or other equipment or tools.

  • Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
