Help
  • Serves as a technical expert and participates in the implementation of DoD directives and regulations pertaining to the protection of Presidential programs and facilities.
  • Provides oversight to the Agency's Personnel and Industrial Security Suitability Programs.
  • Maintains, updates, and provides program security guidance to program managers, as well as provides physical security and security classification guidance.
  • Coordinates with the Defense Security Service (DSS) and other federal agencies concerning clearance actions, such as Facility Clearance FCL verifications.
  • Coordinates with external security managers, contractor facility security officers (FSOs), and/or other federal agencies concerning issues involving physical security.
  • Manages the implementation and review of Operations Security procedures at sensitive sites, and provides written assessments of the procedures.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-0080-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience managing and implementing personnel and industrial security programs, including conducting background investigations and adjudications, in addition to having experience with security disciplines, concepts and practices.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Additionally, prior to reporting for duty the selectee must be found eligible for a DoD Top Secret security clearance with access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) based upon an Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), AND be approved for Presidential Support Duty in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5210.55 (Yankee White - Category II, minimum).

Education

There is no substitution of education for the Qualifying Experience at the GG-12 grade level.

  • In accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M, "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification," this position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Individuals who do not meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements must obtain it within two years after the first duty day in this position. Upon appointment to this position, the selectee must also sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements, as a condition to occupy the position, and agree to permit the DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position.
