Summary

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Offset/Lepe Printing Division WCF. As an Assistant Pressperson, you will perform a wide variety of tasks associated with Printing Technologies and may be assigned to various sections to assist with the preparation, operation, or final product of production equipment. You will work under the supervision of an Assistant Supervisor or Supervisor (as assigned) and may receive technical direction from a Pressperson.

Duties

Help

As an Assistant Pressperson, you will:

  • Monitor and adjust the feeder to maintain continuous operation, aerates loads and prepares (i.e., jogs) them to be placed into feeder.
  • Monitor the Optical Camera Recognition (OCR) displays to ensure the correct product sequence, correct note cutting, correct serial number, label sequence.
  • Ensure bander rolls, plastic and label systems monitored, and quality of packaged materials.
  • Load and splice foil spools and removing foil waste material, ensures adequate supplies are available to run equipment.
  • Monitor print quality and the color of the ink densities keeping all printed work within the given tolerances.
  • Assist in the preparation of printing plates and installation of plate cylinders and blankets. Assist pressperson in setting and adjustment of inking rollers.

  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination
  • Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have: Experience working in a printing plant environment under the close direction of a supervisor.

In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas:
