Duties

Help
  • You will troubleshoot distribution circuits and generating and controlling equipment to locate and correct the causes of outages and improper operations.
  • You will locate breakdowns and trouble spots on distribution lines by power failure reports, line inspections, and use of various electrical testing instruments.
  • You will install, modify, connect, inspect, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution lines, services lines, breakers, disconnect switched.
  • You will modify, test, repair, and maintains transformers, converters, regulators, cables, switched, circuit breakers, mechanical and electronic systems, and other circuit elements found in substitutions.
  • You will check transformer operating temperatures and voltage at secondary terminals and make repairs to defective, loose, or corroded connections.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You are required to be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the WG-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: installing, testing, and repairing a wide array of electrical equipment, including substation components and distribution lines. Troubleshooting of circuits and cable systems to locate and resolve faults, often through emergency repairs using specialized test equipment. The ability to read complex electrical diagrams and provide technical guidance.
