About the Position: This position is located within the Child and Family Mental Health Services (CAFMHS), providing comprehensive services to TRICARE-eligible children, adolescents, and their families. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the position provides individual, family, and group treatment, offers consultation and collaboration with primary care, school-based mental health, and other Madigan Army Medical Center services.

Duties

Help
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and implements specialized procedures to address developmental, emotional, and behavioral disorders that interfere with children’s ability to benefit from educational programs.
  • Evaluate acute mental health needs and provides crisis intervention to reduce psychological distress.
  • Collaborate with developmental pediatricians, primary care providers, and Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) personnel to integrate services that support children with special needs.
  • Oversee diagnostic and treatment services, monitors therapeutic outcomes using behavioral metrics, and revises strategies for greater clinical impact.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, policy development, and organizational decision-making by providing expert insight into behavioral health issues across pediatric and family populations.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations, formulates different diagnoses, and delivers time-limited, problem-focused, evidenced based interventions for a broad range of pediatric behavioral health conditions.
  • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary treatment planning to ensure coordinated, stepped-care across the system.

  • This position may be designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series (Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, etc.)
  • Employee must obtain and maintain a favorable result from a Criminal History Background Check (CHBC). This position requires at least one contact per week or at least four (4) contacts per month with children under the age of 18.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network within 30 days of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US State issued driver’s license to carry out position related duties.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for a Clinical Psychologist:

Degree:
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments to pediatric or adolescent population; providing crisis intervention to an individual or group setting; and assisting with developing treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Special Placement Factor:

Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
