This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This a Social Worker job working on an Adolescent Inpatient Behavioral Health Service (AIBHS). You will provide acute care for the behavioral health needs of children 12-18 year old. Hours of Duty: M-F, 0730-1600.

Duties

Help
  • Provides individual/group/family therapy.
  • Coordinates the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans.
  • Provides evidenced-based treatment modalities that are specific and appropriate to each patient’s age and circumstance.
  • Utilizes electronic health record systems to document and review patient data.
  • Coordinates comprehensive referral services to patients and families.
  • Exercises mature professional judgment within the treatment process, dealing constructively with the patient’s assessed issues.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 2 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • Childcare Background Check required after on boarding; incumbent is required to interact with children under the age of eighteen (18) years on the regular basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker:

Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting comprehensive psychosocial evaluations; providing counseling to child or adolescent patients; referring patients to other services and/or clinicians; and experience with clinical case management; This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
